HIllside Days 1 and 2

The line of cars in front of us waiting to get into the parking lot.

Emily thought it would be a good time to learn something new. So I tried to teach her how to blow bubbles with bubble gum.

We felt pretty optimistic when we saw the lineup of cars behind us.

Buffy St Marie is incredible. I didn't take any shots of her main stage performance, but she blew me away - that woman can rock. And I love her fusion of folk/rock/aboriginal music. I know she's been around for a while - I mean Universal Soldier was an anthem of the 60's anti-war movement. But, damn, when you look at her, it's hard to believe that she's 67. It was a gift to be able to see her on the small stage, 25 feet away from where I was sitting.

I took a bunch of video, but my stupid computer won't upload them to Blogger. This dinosaur is ready to be pitched! I need a visit from the computer fairy!

More pictures to come!

If the computer fairy really left me something, it got washed away in the deluge. It rained and rained, and then it rained some more. My feet are soaking wet!

Emily looks patient is the backseat. Amazing.
Did she learn to blow bubbles?

Now that I'm the ex-partner of a computer engineer, I fall low on the priority for computer replacement. I want a new one so badly - and if I didn't do stuff like hang around music festivals, I'd probably have one right now. Priorities, priorities.

Margo - she was being remarkably patient, considering we were in the car, which is not her favourite place. She gave up on bubble-blowing, but enjoyed watching me get gum in my hair.

That looks so fun. Even the traffic. And good for Emily, giving bubble-blowing a try.

Personally, I think your priorities are just right. Better to have the memories and not be able to upload them, than to be able to upload, but have nothing worthy of doing so. (That was incredibly convoluted, but you know what I mean.)

That sucks about your computer. But looking forward to the pics!

I vividly remember being a little girl watching Buffy St. Marie on an episode of Sesame Street and being just captivated by her. Soon after that she was on some TV special and my dad took some pictures of her on the TV screen for me and I kept them on my bulletin board for years. Even back then I thought she was fiercely beautiful. I can only imagine what her live performances must be like.

Sounds like you had a blast!
